Call a Bondsman

Posted on

Person In JailIf you are arrested, the first call you should make is to a bondsman. If your first call is to a loved one, the next call they make should be to a bondsman.

Upon being arrested, bail will be set in order for you to be released. Bail is an amount of money that must be posted in order for you to get out of jail. Bail can be paid in a few different ways. Most people who post bail go through a bail bondsman. In order to bail out of jail, you or a loved one should call a bondsman with the time of arrest and the amount of the bail. The bondsman tells you the amount needed for the bail agency to post your bond. The amount paid to the bondsman is the premium for the bail bond. If the defendant doesn’t show up for court, then the court will order the bondsman to pay the bond. The defendant will be arrested again and the bondsman will recover his costs from the defendant’s cosigner.

What a Bondsman Does to Help You Get Out of Jail

So what does a Bondsman do? That’s a question most people don’t ask, until they need one. A bondsman is the person or persons operating the 24 hour bail bonds agency you will need if you are arrested. Why 24 hours? Because people are arrested and placed in jail at all hours of the day or night. Romelli Bail Bonds has bail agents available to take calls throughout the night. We will walk you through the bail process step by step. Typically, the process works as follows:

  1. Our bondsman will write an order for release in exchange for a fee that is paid. (This fee is a set percentage of the bond amount.)
  2. The fee can be paid in cash or with a debit or credit card. If a defendant doesn’t have bail money, family members or friends can pay the bail using the same methods.
  3. The bondsman will take the paperwork to the jail after the money or collateral is received, and the defendant will be released with a date to appear in court.

In the event the defendant skips the court date and can’t be located, then the cosigners are responsible to pay all costs, including the full amount of the bond.

If you or someone you know is arrested make your first call to our bail bond agency for help.
